Common Market Philadelphia, a nonprofit local food distributor to the Mid Atlantic region, is celebrated nationally as a community-driven paragon for expanding access to locally grown, sustainable farm food.

The 11th Hour Project recognizes Common Market as a model for providing healthy, fresh, affordable food to communities that otherwise lack access while also providing good prices and stable livelihoods for its farmers.  By providing direct linkage from farm to market, while also providing some technical assistance, Common Market ensures the increasing sustainability of its region’s food supply while ensuring access to families that need it most.  An 11th Hour capital gift helped contribute to the expansion of Common Market’s facilities through the Philly Good Food Lab, while project support enables co-founder Haile Johnston to share his expertise with Food Hub projects around the country.
